Join Col Roland Guidry

Roland Guidry is a retired US Air Force colonel who had an extraordinary career in special operations and counter-terrorism during two very volatile periods in US history. The first was in the Vietnam conflict before the days of satellites, flying Top Secret missions to launch, guide and recover photo reconnaissance drones into North Vietnam and south China from his DC-130 aircraft, such as supporting the raid to rescue POWs at Son Tay, North Vietnam. Another significant mission was during the Iran Hostage crisis in which he was the Squadron Commander and one of the pilots on the lead C-130 on the landing at Desert One in the Iranian desert on the attempt to rescue the 52 Americans held hostage in the US Embassy. He was a founding member as chief of air operations of the Joint Special Operations Command, known as JSOC, the tip of the spear in the modern-day US Special Operations capability that resulted in the termination of the Somali pirates, Osama bin Laden, and Al Baghdadi. Col Guidry was interviewed in the forthcoming History Channel documentary "Desert One" and is featured on the internet at and
